Study “Roads to Democracies” at the University of Siegen in an international environment! Learn about the evolution of democracies and their challenges in today’s world.

The Master’s program “Roads to Democracies – Historical and Contemporary Perspectives on Politics and Culture” at the University of Siegen offers you a unique, interdisciplinary program. This international M.A. taught in English equips students with analytical skills and historical insights to critically assess democratic developments. Students shall develop a broad, comparative understanding of the mechanisms behind democratic processes, acquire the skills to assess democratic developments and are empowered to evaluate what they depend on, how to improve them and make them more resilient. Students benefit from small class sizes, personalized mentoring, and access to academic experts in the fields of democracy, sociology, political science and history.

The interdisciplinary curriculum focuses on political, historical, social and cultural aspects of democratic ideas, institutions, and structures within and outside Europe, while integrating the subjects of history, political science and sociology.

No Tuition Fees: Study in Siegen without tuition fees (only a semester fee of approx.. 330 € applies, which includes subsidized meals and a public transport ticket).

Life in Siegen: Greenest city in Germany with castles and old landmarks in a safe, calm, and enjoyable region. Monthly expenses of approx. 800 – 1000€. Student support available: e.g. Family Service Office, Language Center, Career Service, Equal Opportunities Officer (Gender/Diversity)
